- Jenny Bent is widely known for her skills as a conductor and voice instructor. Ensembles she has conducted include the Boston University Repertory and Women's Choruses and the University of Illinois University Chorus. Jenny has been the rehearsal assistant for Robert Shaw, Ann Howard Jones, and Fred Stoltzfus and served on the voice faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Jenny’s choirs have received much acclaim, earning Unanimous Superior ratings at choral festivals throughout the Bay Area. From 2002-2007 she was conductor of the teen division of the Marin Children’s Chorus, Chantons, which made its Carnegie Hall debut under Ms. Bent’s direction in 2006. Jenny is currently Director of Vocal Music at the Marin School of the Arts. She is on the choral and vocal faculties at Sonoma State University, serves as the CMEA Area I Representative, and hosts the The Choir Loft on KRCB in Santa Rosa. Jenny Bent obtained Masters Degrees in Choral Conducting and Voice Performance from Boston University, and she is completing her doctoral degree in choral conducting and choral literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
